Roxanne’s 20-Year Journey: Making Haircuts a Positive Experience

Wakefield's Favourite Children's Hairdresser

With over two decades of expertise in the industry, Roxanne has dedicated her career to mastering the art of the child-friendly haircut. Based in Wakefield, she brings her warm, reassuring presence to every home, ensuring that haircuts are no longer a source of stress, but a moment of joy for children and a relief for parents.

Her approach is rooted in patience and playfulness. Whether it's a nervous first haircut or a quick touch-up for a busy family day, Roxanne focuses on the child's pace, creating a calm environment where every child feels safe and celebrated. Her passion for professional grooming has evolved into a unique service that bridges the gap between traditional salon standards and the comfort of home.

Roxanne is also a mum herself and currently works as a baby sensory teacher, which gives her a natural understanding of how little ones respond to new experiences, unfamiliar sounds, movement and change. This really shapes the Snips & Styles approach — calm, patient, reassuring and always led by the child’s pace. Alongside her work with children, Roxanne is a highly experienced stylist for both adults and children, with years of experience in high-end salons. She originally built her hairdressing career in Cheshire and is now based in Wakefield, Yorkshire, bringing professional salon standards together with the comfort, flexibility and reassurance of home appointments.

Qualified, Trusted & Experienced

Roxanne is a fully qualified, professional Hairdresser with over 22 years experience in both adults and children’s hairdressing.  She is a State Registered Senior Hairdresser with the Hair Council (GB). Her qualifications include City & Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 Advanced Professional Hairdressing, along with additional professional cutting training through Wella Professionals and Paul Mitchell.  She also holds two Wella Professionals Diploma's.

She has completed specialist cutting education including Foundation Cutting and Classic Cutting, giving her strong technical experience alongside her calm, child-friendly approach.

For extra peace of mind, Roxanne is also fully insured and Enhanced DBS checked.  Combined with her work as a baby sensory teacher, this means she brings not only professional salon standards, but also a genuine understanding of babies, toddlers, nervous children and sensory-sensitive little ones.

At Snips & Styles, every appointment is built around professionalism, patience, safety, reassurance and making haircuts feel positive for little ones.

What Our Families Say

“Roxanne came to our home today to cut and style my little boys hair for the first time today and I couldn’t be happier. She is a lovely person and listened to what we wanted whilst adding plenty of advice from her years of experience. Such a huge transformation and he is a very happy boy. My son is autistic so being able to have such a personal experience within the safety of his safe space is the best decision I have made. We have already booked in for our next appointment. 😊☀️😎”

“My little girl had her first ever haircut today with Roxanne. I was anxious at first that my little girl wouldn’t sit still and would be scared with the scissors. Roxanne made sure we were both comfortable and relaxed and we had a lovely experience with her. She gave us a certificate and some hair keep as a keepsake 🤍”

“My 2 year old and 4 year old had their first proper hair cut today with Roxanne. She was fabulous! Roxanne took the time to engage with my children and was very positive and calm with them. It was a good experience for my children and I would recommend Roxanne 😊 their hair looks great!”

“I love the concept of having someone come to the home that specialise in children’s haircut! My son nearly 3 absolutely hated going to the hairdressers. He would be hysterical and it wasn’t pleasant for him or us as parents. It put me off taking him which resulted in us trying to do it ourselves at home which always resulted in a bad haircut 😂 Roxanne was brilliant from start to finish with my son. She was calm, reassuring and understanding. It was the first time my son wore the gown and sat through the whole hair cut!”
